It's 2 AM when he calls me from the bedroom, "honey, c'mon. Come to bed." He doesn't want to fall asleep without me, and it has been a while since we decided it was time to go to bed. I scroll through one more OOTD post on my favorite blog, and then close my laptop to go join him. At the first light of day our two year old bursts through the bedroom door to wake us up! My sleepy husband rolls over to check the time on his cellphone through squinted eyes. Then he hops up, and goes to entertain the kids so that I can sleep in. It is this way with us. A constant give and take. Each of us working to out love the other.
When I got married I thought that true love was just like the movies: wild romance, unending butterflies, and amazing sex that doesn't ruin your hair! Well, now I know better. I've experienced a love much much better than that. A love that apologizes first, gives up "their side" of the bed, calls you beautiful even when you look a mess, and gives you the last bite of their sprinkles cupcake. THAT'S love right there.
This is my hope... that you would know and experience true love. The love that will outlast all of the butterflies, grand romantic gestures, and infatuation. These moments will remind you of why you said yes to forever. True love is a lifelong journey of I do's. Your wedding day is just the beginning.
